  • Work requires a diversified knowledge of drafting and design principles and practices in mechanical drafting/design and CADD System operations. Makes CADD generated layouts, tolerance studies and detail drawings of product parts and assemblies.

    Job Duties Include

    • Creates part and assembly layouts based on verbal or written instructions.
    • Performs moderate stack-ups and tolerance analysis to ensure proper mechanical fits
    • Basic knowledge of plastic part design criteria, techniques and material selection.
    • Capable of reviewing instructions for clarity and troubleshooting problem areas with responsible/involved parties.
    • Ability to research and apply knowledge obtained from technical handbooks.
    • Must understand machining practices and be able to apply knowledge.
    • Requires an intermediate knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and ability to apply knowledge to designs to improve producibility or reduce tolerance stack-up.
    • Will be responsible for meeting project schedules.
    • Familiar with Windows operating system and able to manipulate files/directories
    • Regularly works with highly confidential data and products.
    • Required to perform Engineering Changes and other Engineering documentation

    Position Requirements

    • High school or equivalent and two year technical institute training in mechanical or electromechanical CAD drafting. Two years mechanical and/or plastics related design experience.
    • Alternate: High school or equivalent and five years mechanical and/or plastic related CAD design experience.


    • Solidworks advanced part modeling.
    • 3-D CADD models and drawings.
    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Beginning knowledge of mechanical fits and tolerances.
    • Intermediate Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M Standards (GD&T).
    • Verifiable education. Verification of employment in drafting/design field. Verification of Solidworks training (certificate) and verification of actual Solidworks work experience.
    • 4500 hours minimum CADD experience working with SolidWorks.
    • Successful completion of certified Solidworks Basic course plus certified Solidworks Advanced Part Modeling course.
