  • FCA is seeking a Design Release Engineer — Key Fob for their Electrical Engineering group in Product Development.

    The job responsibilities will include the direction of the supplier in developing, testing and releasing hardware and software.
    The Engineer will be responsible for meeting all vehicle program milestones and conducting all releasing processes.
    The Engineer is also expected to coordinate testing activities and communicate results between the supplier and FCA engineering groups.

    The job requires frequent interfacing with tier suppliers to track program timing and deliverables. The Engineer will be involved in resolving component software and hardware issues with the supplier; and supporting manufacturing plants builds. Component and vehicle level testing will be required.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
    • Component releasing experience required
    • Validation experience required
    • Self-starter and highly motivated
    • Ability to work autonomously and in team environment
    • Ability to debug system issues and read electrical schematics and block diagrams
    • Ability to handle pressure and resolve conflicts

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
    • Certified or trained in reactive problem solving techniques such as: Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin, or fault tree analysis
    • Certified or trained in proactive quality techniques such as Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
    • Knowledge of CAN communications and the tools used to capture and analyze data
    • Experience with automotive product development processes and deliverables such as technical specifications, DFMEA, service manuals, owner’s manuals, diagnostics trouble codes, DVP&R, PSO, and PPAP
    • Exposure to encrypted communications for security
    • Ability to read requirements and then create a Design Validation Plan (DVP)
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Willing to tackle tough problems and solve them
