Use your GIS talents to serve your community through a once-a-decade project to fulfill one of the constitution’s most basic promises: representation through elected officials.  Expert GIS staff will provide support and counsel to the commission members charged with drafting legislative districts that meet specific constitutional requirements.  Candidates must be self-motivated, independent thinkers, able to operate GIS software in front of an audience and possess a desire to advance their knowledge of the geospatial sciences.  The ability to manage deadlines and devise innovative responses to spatial problems is considered essential.  The selected individual must be non-partisan and able to maintain political neutrality throughout the redistricting process.  The ability to keep information confidential is paramount.  The position is estimated to last approximately 18 to 24 months.

    What you’ll do:

    • Performing complex spatial analysis
    • Creating high quality cartographic products
    • Accurately updating and maintaining a variety of GIS datasets
    • Assisting Commission members with their redistricting responsibilities

Examples of duties include working one-on-one with commissioners to develop new legislative districts, performing complex database operations, developing online mapping applications, assembling metadata, etc.  Additional consideration will be given to candidates who share examples of their work from past geospatial projects during their interviews.

    All you need for success:
