  • Works on a team that services and supports the weather monitoring network throughout the region; includes performing GIS analysis, specialized meteorological data analysis, installing and maintaining weather monitoring equipment, mapping and filling data requests. Maintains environmental field and lab instruments and equipment as assigned, assisting other Nebraska State Climate Office (NSCO) staff with lab work, inventory, computer server maintenance, and developing weather sensor and data paradigms. Must obtain Campbell Scientific CR1000/Loggernet Training Certification within one year of employment.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in meteorology, applied climatology, computer science, information technology, electronic technology, or related field plus two years of experience with data collection devices, meteorological instrumentation, and software for data interaction. Knowledge of meteorological parameters and data. ArcGIS experience. GIS knowledge and skills. Experience must demonstrate good written communication skills. Ability to work independently but conform to standards and operating paradigms.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with meteorological instrument installations and Campbell data loggers. Experience with Excel spreadsheet operations and database queries. Experience programming data loggers. Demonstrated ability to design algorithm and data flow for complex data queries from standard database or spreadsheet. Campbell Scientific CR1000/Loggernet Training Certification.
