|IT GIS ANALYST|
Under general supervision of the CIO-IT Manager, this position actively supports and upholds the City's stated mission and values. The incumbent serves as the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst and is responsible for support of City's Enterprise GIS databases and geographic information systems; imports, extracts, integrates and analyzes data for a variety of decision support purposes; develops spatial analyzes and data models as needed; designs, develops and maintains data layers and data sets.
Recommendation of policies, procedures and documentation relating to GIS systems and related enterprise applications.
Administers and maintains the City's consolidated enterprise geodatabase. Administers spatial databases including upgrades, data migration, and export/import of data.
Designs and tunes GIS SQL spatial databases to maintain efficiency and continually improve performance levels.
Creates, develops, tests and maintains GIS databases, includes defining geospatial relationships to various enterprise business systems and database tables in support of department mission.
Work with GIS and other non-spatial databases to develop appropriate work products using GIS tools and processes.
Researches, tests and recommends modifications/customization of updates of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software before installation on GIS computers.
Monitors and ensures GIS systems meet business and performance needs.
Works with city staff from various departments to determine their respective GIS needs.
Supports users of the GIS systems throughout the City by troubleshooting system problems, installation configuration, installation, documentation and training.
Coordinates various special projects and/or graphics for presentations in support of the GIS system including addition of new data layers.
Trains City staff on GIS related applications and tools including Desktop GIS, Web GIS, and GPS collection.
Manages small IT projects related to technical and non-technical initiatives and the on-going support of GIS.
Creates maps and digital products (hard copy, PDFs, Web etc.).
Operates GIS computer equipment, such as workstations, printers, plotters, and GPS units as required.
Collaborates with GIS Technician as needed.
Other tasks and duties as determined and assigned by the CIO-IT Manager.
Knowledges, Skills & Other Characteristics:
Bachelor's Degree* in Computer Science, Geography, Geographic Information Systems or related field, plus four (4) years' experience in Enterprise GIS applications and services.
*Degree must be from an institution accredited as recognized by the U.S Department of Education as indicated in the Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs.
